WELCOME
Welcome Everyone To A New Year Of Line Dancing And a new Year Of Competition Under The Banner Of The Big Country Hoedown.
A GENERAL THANK YOU
It is great that competitors at the BCH are helping to alter the general public attitude about Line Dancing, as well as promoting the sport in general. One of our great pleasures over the years is hearing from line dancers living in all parts of Australia, Asia Pacific, European and American countries congratulating the team and just wanting to wish us the greatest of luck with the competition. We thank you all for the positive energy and the well wishes.
We must give special thanks to all of the people, businesses and groups that provided sponsorship in previous competitions, help came in many different forms from funding to help in-kind. It was all very much appreciated. As was the case with all of the Hoedown Showdow competitions Kick It Up Line Dancers will sponsor the competition and we will again have the $1000.00 total price money. Monies received from other sponsors in previous years assisted us in the purchase of medals, trophies and judges accommodation, lunch/dinners and a bit of travel assistance for them for giving their time. If you would like to sponsor in 2023 please contact us to discuss how you can help. Obviously, the areas mentioned above will need additional funding. It would also be wonderful to be able to provide prize money in the other categories and sections of the Hoedown Showdown which are not financed at the present time.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY STANDARD AND WALTZ LINE DANCE COMPETITION OVERVIEW
The Standard Class Dances are the go for the Standard and Waltz Line Dance Competition. Sections will include Solo, Duo, Trio and group sections. The solo section dances chosen by the Head Judge and Event Directors will take place during the weekend. The Solo dances are posted below.
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY HOEDOWN SHOWDOWN OVERVIEW

Line Dance Definition
A line dance is a set of step patterns (vanilla) that are repeated throughout the piece of music with all dancers moving on the same foot, at the same time, in the same direction. The dance is performed to a specific piece of music from any genre e.g. country, pop, rock, waltz. The time limit for music in the bch line dancing competition is set at 5 minutes unless specified differently. Bridges, restarts and tags are permitted where the music indicates a need for maintaining the phrasing of the dance.
2023 Competitions
